So I called in Sick today. When I can't motivate myself to move in the morning because I can't breath even after double dosing on the Loratidine I think it's time to call in and try to sleep whatever it is off. I did. I slept until 11, ate something, then conked out again until 5pm and cooked a little dinner. I'm feeling much better now. I needed all that sleep I guess. Perhaps too much sleep dep was starting to get to me. The cooler air is a godsend. There is a storm that looks like it's around 2 hours away so I'm taking advantage of as much of the cool northern wind as I can before it gets here. I am really holding out on the whole AC thing. I think I can make it until the next front at the very least if it keeps like this. Just need to remember to keep myself stocked up on loratidine. Thinking of maps. I found a very interesting map of Clear Lake drawn by the USGS in 1929. It shows many of the communities were already established here by then. League City, Webster, Clear Lake Shores, Kemah and Seabrook were all there including a few that are gone. It is startling just how much subsidence there has been in this area and how many swamps have given way to water. Whole islands are gone. It's like Clear Lake is sinking into Galveston bay and at a slow snails pace that no one notices. One interesting thing I noticed was a small tiny town up on Armand Bayou (Mud Lake) called Killkare.
